Mindkét típusú műszer a váltakozó áram effektív értékének mérésére alkalmas, az áramváltó áttételi aránya (Ct)  beállítható 5/5 – 9500/5 A értékig. A készülék programozása a mellső panelen lévő gombok segítségével történik. A mikroprocesszor alapú programozás lehetővé teszi a felhasználónak, hogy ellenőrizze a beállított Ct arányt, és hogy meghatározza a kritikus áramszintet a kívánt túláramvédelmi riasztáshoz a relé kimeneten keresztül. Az ACAMD típusú mérőműszer a ACAMD-P típus relékimenet nélküli változata.
