In case of paper-insulated, lead-sheathed three-core and XLPE insulated single-core cables connected with the connectors, the cores are covered with semi-conductive paper layer, transparent heat shrink tube and semi-conductive heat shrink tube. In order to rebuild the semi-conductive layer of the single-core cables and the paper insulation of the three-core cables, the connectors and the layers shall be coated with ELCOMASTIC 85 type filling red mastic and covered with ELCOBLACK 47 type semi-conductive paper layer, both of which are part of the kit.
To rebuild the core insulation of the single-core cables and the paper base layer of the three-core cable, the GIS type insulating and semi conductive tube shall be used. Hereby stress control of the layers is also ensured. The MPS1 type (8) waterproof heat shrink tube also provides perfect waterproof protection of the connected cable cores. The joint is protected against UV radiation and weatherings by waterproof hea shrink tube with adhesive. A TES type three-way sealing breakout is used for water- and air-proof closure between the cores of the three-core cable and on the surface of the joint. This element also provides protection of the entire joint against UV radiation, weathering and mechanical effects. |
The proper copper or aluminum connectors (no part of the kit) should be selected based upon the cross section of the cable cores.
